Fact check video: This explosion is from China - but its 7 years old, unrelated to coup rumours

For the past couple of nights, rumours of a coup in Beijing against Chinese President Xi Jinping have been circulating on social media. Speculations about Xi Jinping being under house arrest are also rife. Amid this, a video of a massive explosion supposedly recorded from a window of a building has gone viral.

People on Twitter and Facebook claimed that this video was shot recently "during the China coup against Xi Jinping."

AFWA's investigation has found that although the video is from China, it is some seven years old and shows a chemical explosion in the port city of Tianjin.
