Snails slug it out in World Championship race

It's the final of the World Snail Championship

Every year since the 1960s crowds have flocked to the climax of this weekend where the fastest snails on the planet duke it out.

The table is covered with a special damp cloth, and in a nail-biting contest it's the first snail to reach the outer red ring who wins the glory.

There is a certain amount of cheating as snails jump on their opponents, but in the end there can be only one winner.
