00:09treat in store for you. Lots of golf, the weather is amazing, we're playing the old course and the
00:18El's course, spa, the marina, Loile, a gorgeous little town that we are going to bring you along
00:28and experience food, wine and the local culture. We're so excited that you're here with us this
00:38time on Golfing the World. The weather has always been there, right? I mean we have 300 days of
00:46sunshine, quiet country, safe country and then when you come you fall in love with this. Every
00:54Portuguese guy knows what Villamora is. I would come here as a kid having holidays, fantastic beach,
01:01it's two kilometers of white sandy beach. So we want people coming over and feeling really good
01:08by being here. If they want to play golf, they get to play golf, if they want to go on
01:11a boat ride.
01:14And then you have, you know, all this vibe around the PGA bringing in the champions over the next
01:20five years. I think the word transformation is really at the forefront and hoping that people
01:26would come live and enjoy while they stay here with us.
01:38So we're at the old course in Villamora today and we're warming up in the spectacular golf range.
01:45We have track man on every bay, multiple flags to go at and just a spectacular day. It's beautiful weather,
01:55the scenery is amazing, the flowers, the trees, I mean it does not get much better than this.
02:09So welcome Alex, great to have you here at the old course in the Algarve Villamora and it's a pleasure

02:16I think the pleasure is mine. This is spectacular. I hope I will show you today the old course
02:22and talk a little bit about Villamora and trying to see what we have to offer you guys.
02:28All right, let's go.
02:35All right Alex, so this is one of the nicest first holes we have in Villamora. Short, everything drains into
02:42the middle.
02:48First thing in the morning.
02:52That's it.
02:54A fourth hole was probably my favorite actually. We were hitting over some water with a little fountain in the
03:01middle.
03:01And if that's not enough, you have to go directly over a tree and the green is pretty blind.
03:10I think just to start the round, hole four, you've got that kind of a challenge, was awesome.
03:15Especially because I put it on the green twice.
03:26Hi Alex, this is the ninth hole. It's probably my favorite hole.
03:31It is drivable for some people, but I don't think it's not today.
03:36The ninth hole here, little downhill drive. Set yourself up for a really good second shot.
03:43I think I was a little too far right, but that meant I had one of these gorgeous trees to
03:48have to hit over
03:49and into a blind green. Put it in the bunker. That was okay.
03:53Got a good shot out. Made the par. Nuno made a birdie.
04:03You know, this really feels like, in the drive-in yesterday, golf courses everywhere.
04:10Like, it's real mecca for golf in this area.
04:14Well, there's not too many places in Europe you can find, you know, within five kilometers,
04:19five golf courses, 20 hotels, marina, casino, restaurants, bars.
04:24People come here, travel for the first time to Portia. Super easy.
04:28So, all set up for it.
04:31This is a beautiful hole. Dog leg left?
04:34Correct. Par five?
04:35Par four. It looks like a five.
04:37Yeah.
04:40Good shot.
04:45Oh, members bounce.
04:48Right off a tree.
04:49It's the trees.
04:52So, the 11th hole, seemingly straightforward, actually, when you first get up there.
04:58But then you realize, with the trees on the right, the bunker in the middle of the fairway,
05:02trees on the left, it actually narrows your landing zone quite substantially.
05:07And then you've got an uphill approach shot into a par four.
05:11I liked it.
05:12It was challenging.
05:13You've got to be straight off that tee.
05:15And then the elevated green.
05:17It's just so spectacular.
05:19I mean, the maintenance here is amazing.
05:30Okay.
05:30You can play that.
05:34I'm short.
05:36I can't see where you're going.
05:44The old course itself has been reinvented so many times and continues to be.
05:49So, they're just making it better and better for visitors every year.

07:41it was absolutely spectacular I mean from the manicured greens to the fairways these trees
07:48just such a beautiful property coming off the 18th here at the old course in Villa Mora we
07:55were playing with Nuno today he played so well and he was such a pleasure to play with so we
08:01became specialists in welcome golfers and that's why golfers keep coming back they feel very very
08:06welcoming and we know what they're looking for yeah I think Villa Mora is a special place to play
08:11golf so after a grueling round of golf this is my office we're gonna go have some lunch can't wait
08:21for some more Portuguese seafood and then we're gonna go play the else course
08:32the Victoria resort has has been developed to become a luxury retreat for people tourists coming
08:39to Villa Mora and the place is built to receive guests tourists from all over the world and to
08:46make them enjoy what we offer in the hotel and in Villa Mora as a city as a village we
08:53are very
08:53privileged to have a private golf resort in front of our hotel and that attracts a different level of
08:59guests that are golf passionate once they come to the hotel other than the golf we introduce them
09:07to different things we introduce them to Villa Mora we introduce them to the Algarve region to the wine
09:13region so we don't let them stay just as a golfer we show them what Villa Mora is about
09:21after a hard day on the golf course what would you rather do you can hit the spa
09:29and through the doors of this spectacular spa was like coming into a little oasis of calm everyone is
09:37so serene and welcoming and charming it's a beautiful lap pool inside sauna steam room everything you need to
09:46relax those weary golf muscles I got treated to a beautiful massage by one of their therapists
09:58the special thing about where the spa is located at Victoria Golf and Spa is that there's a balcony
10:05right outside the spa chairs that you can lounge on or just go and look at the view you're right
10:11on the
10:12else course there's pools below you people relaxing I mean this place is magical
10:22you may come here for the golf but the food is where it's at we combine wellness with food and
10:29beverage so the people that comes to do wellness golf we always give them some treats which is you
10:36know our local restaurants that we have in the hotel we have a beautiful bars and the property so
10:41we combine wellness and nutrition at the same time and offer them what the Algarve has the chef came
10:49out basically told us what to order and she nailed it spot-on you will want to be coming back
10:56here year
10:57after year after year and sharing it with friends and family because this is a special place
11:05well a trip to Villa Mora wouldn't be complete without coming down to check out the marina there's so
11:11much to do down here nightlife's awesome but also during the day some quick shopping and checking out
11:19all the yachts
11:24oh you're in Villa Mora it's the heart of the Algarve in my point of view the main characteristics of
11:31this marina is it's safe
11:33it's safe not only security wise but it's safe for yachtsmen right so inside you don't feel the wind
11:41lots of people come to visit even if you don't have a yacht here I mean if you come to
11:46the Algarve this is a
11:47must visit it's very very popular that way the golfers during the day are the golf course and during the
11:54night
11:54they're here at the marina enjoying themselves
12:10so we're in the Mercado Municipal de Loli today otherwise known as the indoor market here in Loli gorgeous little
12:20town that we have discovered and
12:21and this is a Portuguese delicacy that we've been told all about and we would love to try one
12:30can we have two of these thank you so much

12:43right now we are in the Loli one of our municipalities that combines
12:48this sophisticated offer with tradition and culture we are very near by our traditional market the local market
12:57which is visited by millions of tourists during all year because in fact it shows as I was saying that
13:04our cultural side our traditional side
13:06work so we will be using the forest and the country of the coles
13:14so we took a little time of golf today and one of the beautiful town of loli
13:19we love it we have had coffee's
13:24pastries we visited the indoor market we've been shopping for beautiful Portuguese porcelain
13:30this town is gorgeous the cobbled little streets that we've discovered and the people are so
13:37friendly and everyone you meet brings you in with a smile and a cheers and they want to get to
13:44know
13:44you and you feel part of the community we love the Algarve so what's your handicap you're a two
13:58coming up next on golfing the world the L's course Villamora Portugal
14:12we're in Portugal we're in Villamora and we have the absolute honor of playing the L's course today
14:19which is a private course here in the Algarve it is spectacular
14:29the architecture of the our clubhouse is very unique because this is also an homage to the
14:35aqueduct that we have in Lisbon because for us the heritage of the place where we are is very
14:40important so if you see these you know you are at the house in Portugal the Victoria golf course opened
14:52in 2000 and the original architect designed by Arnold Palmer at the time and now completely
14:58renovated by Ernie Els Arnold Palmer came here very very often because of that also Ernie was you know
15:08nervous when we did the opening on two months ago he said I think I made a good tribute to
15:15to Arnold and
15:16to this course and to Villamora we're on the driving range here at the L's course and it's just a
15:25fantastic
15:27facility setting up all the trackman bays and then you've even got a little short area where you can hit
15:32out the sand or practice your lob shot let's go hit some we're playing with a founding member Brannigan and
15:42I've just been watching his swing on the golf range and I think I can take him I win dinner
15:54you win
15:58dinner everyone wins yeah sounds like you've got yourself a deal yeah let's go play golf

16:11I mean you know if you want to play a beautiful high draw that's fine
16:16what do they say one up after one
16:20yeah so the first hole is a downhill par five relatively straightforward it's one of those holes
16:25you stand on you think I should be making five here because distance wise it's not a long par
16:30five but it's a very demanding t-shot you've got bunkers left bunkers right so ultimately it's all
16:36about getting that t-shot on the fairway if you get on the fairway then it is a straight hole
16:39up but
16:40then again when you get to the green it's typical Ernie Els it slopes
16:49a narrowish par five again the t-shot is the key here but then you've got this long waste bunker
16:56that
16:56runs along the right side probably a good miss because it's a waste bunker you can ground the
17:00club nice and firm sand but then again very small green so it's one of those if you play it
17:05strategically
17:05sort of lay up leave yourself a wedge it's somewhat straightforward but again like anything there's not
17:10this thing is an easy golf hole you get out of position and it's going to cost you a shot
17:17par five fifth hole lovely golf hole a relatively straightforward drive the second shot is ultimately
17:24where the risk is you've got a fairway bunker that you either play short of that leaves you 100 110
17:30yards
17:30in or you go over it and you take on the green try and get on into very much a
17:35risk road play for the
17:36second it's a green that very much moves from right to left a lot of downhill putts so positioning on
17:40the green matters on the par five to top
18:03well this waterfall is so cute there's a reason this is the signature hole okay it's a par five it's
18:11not only a good golf hole it's also visually very very
18:13attractive you're going to go over the water for your drive so step one make sure you get it over
18:18get
18:18into the fairway step two you've got to hit it far enough down you've got a bridge you've got water
18:23so
18:23you've got to make sure you hit it far enough down otherwise for the third you've got too long an
18:26approach
18:26so it's it's one of those holes that you've got a demanding drive a demanding second and even a
18:30demanding third because as we get up to the green you'll see you can't be short otherwise you're in the
18:35water you're in the long grass so it's a it's a fantastic golf ball it's the reason it's the stroke
18:39three it's just demanding in terms of shots
18:47it's dry
18:54oh good part there it is one up okay everyone in portugal is so friendly the service has been top
19:02notch like they wake and make you feel so welcome yeah i think one of the things you'll notice here
19:07when you come to the house course is obviously there's the golf experience which is you know five
19:10star but then when you get into a clubhouse that's the other part of the experience you've got the
19:14friendly staff they know your first names
19:16all right let's go to this stuff
19:42the 14th hole here at the elves club is a tricky little path three straight over water a bunker
19:49protecting the front of the green the nice thing about this hole is that a nicely played draw or a
19:57fade would work perfectly well you just don't want to be long so perfectly played great little hole
20:14the uh the par 4 16 stroke one is a fantastic goal form
20:23obviously the drive is important we've got to get away from that water once we get to this little
20:27landing spot you've got to carry this not just over water but you've got to carry it over that bunker
20:32in
20:32the middle so there's a lot of danger short you've got to try and get it over that bunker but
20:36if you
20:36got long obviously into the thick rough so it is a very very good uh approach shot here but once
20:41you're
20:42on the green it's kind of straightforward i'm not gonna lie to you've done pretty amazingly to keep this game
20:58at all square stepping onto the a team
21:03swing that's the line
21:08did you just hit the pin what am i gonna do to win this
21:16oh and you left it short you can have that one oh thank you so what was this for i
