SC asks Centre to submit oxygen distribution plan for Delhi; Covid testing rules revised to ease pressure on labs; more

The Centre on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court show-cause notice over the ongoing oxygen crisis in Delhi and the court, in turn, asked it to ensure Delhi gets 700 MT oxygen. The contempt proceedings initiated by the Delhi High Court against Centre has been stayed by the Supreme Court, which asked the government's to inform of its plans of oxygen distribution for Delhi by 10.30 am on Thursday. On the other hand, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has come out with a new set of guidelines for Covid testing, with an aim to take the load off existing laboratories as cases continue to grow in the country. To help the exhausted labs, the ICMR is now suggesting Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for mass detection. The ICMR has said if an individual identified as negative by Rapid Antigent Test continues to face symptoms of Covid, then the person should be linked with an RT-PCR testing facility.
