Two Hub Clean & Military Press YORK 2nd Gen 45s

Two Hub Clean & Military Press YORK 2nd Gen 45s OR as they started calling them: "STANDARD OLYMPIC BARBELL" plates. Watching all the way to the end, you will see those 3 words cast on the face of the plate along with the YORK name. This was the FIRST time plates were cast with something other than the name of the company and the weight though YORK didn't cast a "45" onto their plates until the mid 1960s: almost THREE decades later!! This was also the first plate designed with spokes coming from the Hub! Up until this, BERG, YORK & JACKSON plates just had a simple round "doorknob" Hub. After creating this 2nd generation set, YORK made certain to mention "STANDARD OLYMPIC BARBELL" in their ads & articles BUT, curiously kept showing the previous set in their ads FIVE YEARS after the fact!! I think YORK was pushing for their plates to be associated with the Olympics which was much easier to get away with then. So, this is why & when we started calling these Olympic plates whiiiiich of course led to Olympic bar and Olympic weight set. The spokes became so popular that most plates still have them today!!
