Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki directed his first animated feature in 1979, which initially did not find its audience. In the years since then, however, THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO has become an animation classic, and today is cited as an influence for many animators. This virtual panel I put together on April 25, 2020, broadcast on Twitch for an Anime virtual convention, KogaraCon at Home, takes a fascinating look at this beloved feature and shares lot of behind the scenes stories concerning its long journey to classic status.
