Harry Coumnas, a resident of Hawaii Island and a builder by profession was recently in news after he claimed to have built a house which can withstand volcanic eruptions. He says that as the Island of Hawaii consists of 5 volcanoes, the local people spend their whole life in the fear of calamities, such as volcanic smog, lava flows, explosive eruptions, & earthquakes. Coumnas always believed that something more could be done to reduce the risks of volcanic hazards.
