Panthpakar Dham, Sitamarhi:-
Panthpakar village, located only 8 km from Sitamarhi, is a witness to the history of Ramayana. According to legends, Maa Sita had rested one night under a pakar tree located at this place. After going to Ayodhya after Rama-Sita's marriage, King Dasharatha took a night's rest at this place. It is situated at a distance of twelve Kos (about 38 km) from Janakpur.
It is mentioned in page 59 of the Sarakanda of Anand Ramayana. According to Maharshi Valmiki Ramayana and Tulsikrit Ramcharitmanas, a bitter dialogue took place between Lord Rama and Lord Parashurama and according to mythology, that dialogue site is also considered to be Panthpakar village.
According to folklore here, Maa Sita after night rest cleaned her teeth with Pakar Datun and threw that Datun, which gave birth to a huge Pakar tree. Today there are hundreds of other Pakar trees along with that Pakar tree here. Since this Pakar tree is in the path of Ayodhya-Janakpur, this place is called Panthpakar.
There is a large pool between Pakar trees. According to the stories, Maa Sita also took bath in this pond. Even today, big disputes of this area are settled at this place. People are confident that any dispute at this site is settled easily and truthfully. It is also believed that by grinding and grinding the leaves of Pakar tree here, pregnant women get relief from childbirth and suffer easily.
A peculiar thing in the Pakad trees here is that even in the autumn, not all the tree trunks fall together. There is a huge temple of Maa Janki as well as a grand temple of Ram-Janaki. There is a program of boy-girl viewing for the worship and marriage of God throughout the year. Being on the Sitamarhi-Janakpur road, pilgrims from Nepal and different parts of the country keep visiting here throughout the year.
