According to Reuters, Spain offered docking space to a humanitarian ship stranded in international waters with 629 migrants on board.
The ship included passengers rescued off the coast of Libya.
Among the hundreds of migrant refugees were 11 children and seven pregnant women.
Initially, docking requests were denied by Italy and Malta, leaving the Gibraltar-flagged Aquarius ship in limbo on the Mediterranean Sea.
