Defective air bags from Takata are responsible for 278 injures across the US.
The recent figures were complied by Democratic Senator Bill Nelson's office.
The Florida senator has been part of an ongoing investigation and recall effort for the air bags.
According to the senator's research, the air bags are also responsible for 15 deaths in the US.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration initially ordered the recall in 2015, but over 16 million faulty air bags remain in vehicles today.
