Netflix Sued Over Allegedly Rigging Executive Bonuses The City of Birmingham Relief and Retirement System, a Netflix shareholder, filed the lawsuit late last week. Through their conduct, Defendants rigged the compensation process, guaranteeing Netflix officers huge cash payments... ...while misleading investors into believing that these payments were justified by attainment of real performance goals. The lawsuit focuses on the bonuses paid out to top executives before Congress passed its tax reform at the end of 2017. Prior to restructuring the salaries, Netflix allegedly structured the bonuses based on predictable performance goals so the company could use them as a tax deduction. As a result, many of Netflix’s top executives reportedly gained millions of dollars from the bonuses. Netflix has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
