Huge icicles hang from railings on Cornish promenade

Frozen sea sculptures created by the Beast from the East polar vortex were discovered on this promenade in Penzance, Cornwall yesterday (March 1).

The sub-zero temperatures meant that sea spray from storm waves has frozen into icicles on the cold metal railings.
