Strong winds and waves hit Cornish coast

Storm Callum has begun to batter parts of the UK with strong winds and heavy downpours.

Footage captured today, October 12, shows huge waves lashing a promenade in Penzance where 60mph gales were recorded earlier this morning.

At least one thousand homes were left without power.

Warnings of flooding and travel disruption have been issued for northwest England, southwest Scotland, Lothian Borders, Wales, Yorkshire and Humber.
