Homebound Train
Words and Music by Leslie (aka Jesse) Hughes ©

Lay down another track,
There’s no looking back,
When this train is coming through.
If you’re riding the caboose,
It won’t come loose,
When this train is coming through.
The engineer has plenty of steam,
For the folks in between,
When this train is coming through.

And she’s gonna go Choo Choo Choo (repeat)

In a tunnel she’ll ride,
Through the mountainside,
Upon a bridge up high,
She’ll cross the rivers wide.
On the open plain,
She’s gonna stake a claim,
Steam whistle blowing and saying,
She’s the homebound Train.

There’s people waiting at the station,
And they’re all anticipating,
When this train is coming through.
Big wheels will be bringing,
Bells and whistles that are ringing,
When this train is coming through.
Many hopes they are abiding,
On the steam horse they’ll be riding,
And that the engineer is gonna come through.
