Paul Alter also gained attention outside his professional engagements as a television director and producer. It was with his lawsuit against the Walt Disney Co, with which he was claiming 17 areas of similarities between Disney’s movie 'Honey, I Blew Up the Kid'. Alter listed several similarities between and his long ago written work which he had sent to Disney in the late 1970s, and their movie 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' released in 1989. In the 1993 trial the jury sided with Alter, which cost Disney over $300,000.
