Ugandan government shuts down oldest university Makarere

Police shut down Uganda’s oldest university, Makerere, evacuating all students. It follows a decree from President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday night, that the campus should be shut down for security reasons after violent strikes by teaching staff over unpaid bonuses.
