Hey everyone! I'm ----Ginny Jones your host for playingpoliticstv.com, your online video guide to everything political. On this edition of playing politics I will be discussing presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Congressman Ron Paul is one of the candidates for the Republican nomination in this year’s presidential election. Ron Paul entered the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He remained in the military during the early years of the Vietnam War and served active duty as a flight surgeon from 1963 to 1965.
Paul has been described as conservative, constitutionalist, and libertarian. He advocates a non-interventionist foreign policy, having voted against actions such as the Iraq War Resolution, but in favor of force against terrorists in Afghanistan. He favors withdrawal from NATO and the United Nations, citing the dangers of foreign entanglements to national sovereignty.
He received a draft notice and entered the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He remained in the military during the early years of the Vietnam War. He served active duty as a flight surgeon from 1963 to 1965, attending to the ear, nose, and throat problems of pilots in South Korea, Iran, Ethiopia, and Turkey, but was never sent to Vietnam.
He presently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles.
Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies.
