Footage of a storm hitting a ship off the coast of South Africa

Dramatic footage has emerged of a storm hitting a ship in the south Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Africa.

The video, filmed late last year, shows the ship rocking on the waves as the wind roars in the background.

The filmer later wrote online: "The ship in storm video is taken in the south Atlantic sea, while crossing from Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean.

"It's around 11am South Africa time at Cape Town."
