Mark: Hi it’s Mark from Top Local Lead Generation and we’re here with business coach John Nieuwenburg in Vancouver. So John, we’re just getting started in our little interview series here and so we’re going to start with the most basic question I guess. Why would someone want or consider having a business coach?
John: Typically a business owner has challenges in one of the three big buckets. So if you’re a business owner that can relate to one of these three things, maybe that might be the right time for you to have a business coach or at least have a conversation with one. So bucket number one has to do with challenges around time and so what a business owner might be feeling or expressing is they’ve got too much to do and not enough time to do it. They feel a little like the hamster on the wheel, they’re just trying to go faster and faster and faster, to get stuff done. Or perhaps you feel a little bit like the guy in the pinball just ching, ching, ching responding to whatever happens next in your life and so you’re feeling like you’re working as hard as you can but you’re not really getting the results that you want and by definition, what that means is that if you’re not getting the results then in some way you’re not using your time in a way that allows you to get those results. So one of the things that a business owner might be challenged by is the feeling like they’ve got too much to do and not enough time to do it and they’re not getting the results.
Bucket number two has to do with team, and so the typical kinds of things that a business owner who has challenges in this area might be saying is no one can do it as good as me, if I don’t do it it won’t get done, I can’t hire good team members, everyone’s motivated except for the eight hours they work for me and typically they’re kind of saying it’s really all about their team members. But really if you wanted to to put it another way, if you don’t have the team mates you want maybe it’s the owner that needs to become better. You don’t get the team members you want, you get the team members you deserve and so probably there’s areas around delegation, leadership that you might like to get better at. So bucket number two for some business owners is leading and managing a team.
