Voting Cancelled in District Near Kampala After Police Fire Tear Gas

Tempers flared in several districts of Uganda amid long delays to voting caused by the late delivery of ballot papers. The country went to the polls on February 18 in a presidential election that could see the end of President Yoweri Museveni’s 30-year rule.While the Election Commission said the delays would not affect the voting of people who turned up to vote by 4pm, voting was cancelled in one district south of Kampala, according to a reporter at the scene.
