The French government wants to boost patriotism and social cohesion among the young following the November terror attacks. It's part of a bid to counter radicalisation by spotting young people on the fringes of society and helping them to love their homeland. Currently though, the only obligatory measure is a one-day training course called the "Day of Defence and Citizenship". Critics say it's a waste of time and money, so now both defence and civic service schemes for young people are up for review. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Laura Burloux.
