Argentina: Macri’s New Cabinet Tied to Corporate and Banking Interests

Mauricio Macri’s new Cabinet is made up of executives closely linked to corporate and banking interests such as JPMorgan and HSBC Bank. The new Finance Minister, Alfonso Prat-Gay, a former JP Morgan Executive, is trying to obtain around US$8 billion from banks in the United States. The Cabinet favors neoliberal policies, and at the same time, people are already feeling the effects of a currency devaluation on their pocket books. Former President Cristina Fernandez is not expected to sit quiet. She will continue to be an important figure in the political scene. Laureano Ponce reports from Buenos Aires for teleSUR
