Një lajm i rreme i publikuar nga një media iraniane, se një tubacion nafte kishte shpërthyer, solli rritjen e ne mënyrë rekord çmimin e naftës, qe u rrit me 6$ për fuçi. Ne Shtetet e Bashkuara te Amerikës një fuçi nafte është shitur me 128.4 $, me i larti ne 43 muajt e fundit. Por ky çmim, i cili fillimisht krijoi një kaos dhe humbje te mëdha financiare për shkak te rritjes se menjëhershme te tij, nisi te bjere menjëherë pas përgënjeshtrimit te këtij lajmi nga zyrtare saudit. Aktualisht një fuçi nafte shitet me 125.03 dollarë. Kjo situate vjen ne një kohe kur shtetet e perëndimit kane nisur te zbatojnë sanksionet e vendosura ndaj Teheranit zyrtar, për shkak te prodhimit te tyre bërthamor. Pjese e këtyre masave janë bllokimi i furnizimit me nafte nga Irani. Sipas eksperteve, pavarësisht qëndrimeve te ashpra te perëndimit, ekonomia qe shpesh here është me kokëfortë, mund te detyroje këto vende qe te vijojnë paktin me Teheranin zyrtar.
