Colombia: Government, FARC Seek Verification Mechanisms

TeleSUR correspondent Natalia Margarita explains that before implementing a bilateral ceasefire, President Juan Manuel Santos insists that agreements be reached on security guarantees and verification mechanisms. Santos is calling on the United Nations to act as a verifier, and the FARC has proposed that UNASUR be a verifier, as well. FARC Commander Timochenko’s recent complaint about the government continuing to attack the guerrillas in no way dangers the peace process, says Margarita.
