Three years ago, an essay by author Liu Ka-shiang introduced many readers to Taichung's eight-kilometer free bus ride program. But recently, Liu posted on Facebook that he no longer believes his hometown is a pedestrian-friendly city. He cited the chaos on the sidewalks near Taichung Station and Chung Shan Medical University to make his point.
