Following precedence, the Kuomintang held a legislative and executive conference on the eve of the new legislative session. President Ma Ying-jeou, KMT Chair Eric Chu and Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng were all on hand to rally for KMT presidential candidate Hung Hsiu-chu. All three also promoted Hung's version of amendments to the capital gains tax. One KMT lawmaker, however, blasted party officials for failing to put up a united front in supporting Hung.
