Trinidad and Tobago – Keith Rowley is New Prime Minister

The People’s National Movement, Trinidad and Tobago’s oldest political party, has come out victorious in the Caribbean nation’s recently concluded general elections. The geologist Dr. Keith Rowley, will be the country’s new Prime Minister after his PNM party captured 23 constituencies for control of the 41-seat Parliament in the oil rich twin island nation. The incumbent People’s Partnership coalition, led by Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar won 18 seats. Rowley is expected to be sworn in on Wednesday. teleSUR
