New elections are scheduled in some areas of Haiti, where violence and massive irregularities disrupted legislative and municipal elections earlier this month. Five percent of the voting stations were shut down in an election with a scant voter turnout. Only 18% of Haiti’s 5.8 million voters cast their ballots. The re-vote will take place in 25 polling stations on October 25. Haiti’s Parliament was dissolved in January after scheduled legislative elections in 2011 and 2014 were canceled. teleSUR
