The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities in Ecuador (Conaie) held an assembly today to plan continued anti-government protests. Liz Scherffius spoke with two former leaders of Conaie. Miguel Lluco charges that the new leaders are working with right-wing political parties. According to Rodrigo Collaguazo, a small sector of the indigenous movement seeks to join forces with the right in order to destabilize the country and launch a coup as part of an international agenda to bring down today’s progressive governments in Latin America. Liz Scherffius reports from Quito for teleSUR.
