Russia Applies For Claim Over Arctic Territory

Russia’s Foreign Minister has submitted an application to the United Nations to formally claim an approximately 463,000 square mile territory in the Arctic.

The battle to claim territory in the Arctic is once again heating up. 

Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced that a formal request has been made to the United Nations, asking it to recognize the country’s claim to an approximately 463,000 square mile territory in the Arctic. 

A similar attempt had been made and rejected in the early 2000s, but this application reportedly contains stronger supporting evidence.
