Swarms of large, barrel jellyfish have been spotted off the South West coast of England. "Jellyfish" is a catch-all term covering 2,000 different plankton species that have existed on the earth for 650 million years. The historical numbers of jellyfish are largely unknown, but these graceful gliders may have a darker side if so-called "jellification" of the oceans is on the rise. VIDEOGRAPHIC
