The French government has convened a new umbrella group of Muslim representatives in order to address the daily life of the five million Muslims in France and the ever-touchy issue of radical Islam. The new body will not, however, officially replace the existing French Council of the Muslim Faith, which has been roundly criticised for its paralysis and lack of representativity.
