Romanian PM Victor Ponta resists calls to resign over criminal inquiry

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta has rejected a call by the president for his resignation.

It comes after a criminal investigation was launched, naming him as a suspect in offences including forgery, money-laundering, conflict of interest and tax evasion.

Ponta says only parliament can dismiss him and the accusations were first made by political enemies.
