Road to Restoration: Big Boy Moves from Southern California

The Union Pacific Railroad made history in 2012 by announcing it was seeking to acquire one of its Big Boy steam locomotives for an eventual return to service. UP formally acquired locomotive #4014 in 2013 and made plans to return it from Southern California to Cheyenne, Wyoming for restoration.

Enjoy this epic compilation of Big Boy's historic, once in a lifetime move on the road to restoration and return to service. We begin at Pomona with the move from the Rail Giants Museum at Fairplex, see the "hospital" train, and then chase Big Boy on moving day all the way from San Bernardino to Yermo.
