Apple is on Monday expected to announce details of its highly-anticipated watch which it hopes will transform the wearable tech market.

The Apple Watch is the first product to be developed under CEO Tim Cook.

Experts are eagerly waiting to see if Apple can transform the sector’s fortunes.

“What Apple is going to want to do is really own the entire category, much in the way that they did with smartphones and with mp3 players before it, Apple’s M.O. [modus operandi] is to look at a growing category, something that others have already done some work in, and then come in and create the product that everybody wants to buy in that category, and really create a status symbol,” said CNET Editor-in-chief, Lindsey Turrentine.

Apple fans have been waiting five years for a new type of product.
