There are countless dogs that desperately need human help and some of them are fortunate enough to get it.

A paralyzed stray canine that was found on a beach in Thailand is one such example. He is doing extremely well thanks to his unbreakable spirit and his kind-hearted rescuer.

During the first encounter, Meagan Penman watched and recorded the dog as he dragged his back legs over the sand. She immediately took to him and set out to help.

Penman named him Leo and contacted a number of shelters, but staffers from every facility wouldn’t accommodate him. Penman quickly realized she was on her own so she opened up a Facebook account for Leo and a GoFundMe page to help pay for his veterinary expenses.

When X-rays were taken, veterinarians concluded his back was broken and that he was paralyzed. They said he would never be able to walk again.

Despite that unsettling prognosis, Leo’s spirit and happy demeanor still shined. He spent three months receiving veterinary care before being flown to Canada to be with his new human mom; Penman.

Successful crowdfunding made it all happen. Leo has since received a wheelchair for his hind legs, which is assisting him in walking and chasing squirrels without having to drag his limbs.

Penman says he is doing great at his Canadian home and has even put on 5 pounds since his arrival.
