Skolion of Seikilos, opening theme of the awarded album "Rozice" by the Croatian band Franko Krajcar & Indivia, has a new video.

Skolion of Seikilos, known also as Song of Seikilos, performed by Franko Krajcar & Indivia and arranged by Mauro Giorgi, is the genuine musical treat.

Song of Seikilos, known also as Seikilos epitaph, is a Hellenistic Ionic song and the oldest surviving example of a complete musical composition, including musical notation, from anywhere in the world. The melody, with its lyrics, was found engraved on a tombstone, near Aidin, in Turkey. The find has been dated variously from around 200 BC to around AD 100.

The English translation of the lyrics:

"As long as you live,
dance and sing,
be joyful.
For life is short,
And Time carries away his prize."

The multi-instrumentalist Franko Krajcar followed by his excellent musicians managed to perform a truly remarkable piece of music. Known to the public as the great ethno-jazz performers, with this video Franko Krajcar & Indivia are showing their talent to represent a classical piece as something really remarkable and fresh.

The video was created by Aleksej Orel and Afrodita Bulajic.
