Hundreds of people have died and many more have been displaced by flooding across south and eastern Asia.

In the Kashmir region of India heavy monsoon rains caused flash floods resulting in the deaths of over a hundred people.

Officials said over a hundred villages were affected when rivers swelled to up to two metres above safety levels.

In Pakistan officials said 110 people were killed when flash floods caused homes to collapse in the Punjab and Kashmir regions.

Some of the victims were killed by electrocution.

With more rain being forecast, warnings have been issued across the country.

Meanwhile in southwestern China over a week of flooding has claimed the lives of at least 44 people. Another 18 are missing.

China’s Civil Affairs Ministry says over 120,000 people have been moved to temporary shelters because their homes have either been swept away or are at risk.
