Over 1,000 drones intercepted over UAE so far as Euronews correspondent reports from the region

Euronews correspondent Jane Witherspoon in Dubai reports intense overnight attacks over Abu Dhabi, with air defence intercept explosions heard roughly every 20 seconds. The UAE says it has intercepted more than 1,000 drones, 196 ballistic missiles and eight cruise missiles since Saturday.

00:00Overnight, Abu Dhabi came under intense attack.
00:03Now, since Saturday, the UAE Air Defence has intercepted 1,072 drones,
00:10196 ballistic missiles and eight cruise missiles.
00:15Public warning alerts and alarms rang through the night.
00:18In fact, we've just had another one 30 minutes ago here in Dubai.
00:22A contact down at Abu Dhabi International Airport
00:25just told me that they are hearing interception explosions
00:30around every 20 seconds at the moment.
00:33In terms of the travel, Etihad and Emirates Airlines
00:36are continuing to run limited services out of both airports
00:40in Abu Dhabi and here down at DXB.
00:44I think the general consensus for a lot of people
00:46is that they thought it would have been over by now.
00:49And while everything does seem fully under control,
00:52there is a growing concern.
