He would have swapped all those pre-season victories against Real Madrid, AC Milan and even Liverpool for sure. It's a blow for United, all right, as they would have wanted a run in this competition to partially make up for their absence from Europe, and to give their squad players some action. Now they have a slightly barren campaign till the FA Cup, though fans will say it will allow them to concentrate on the league. The scoreline is humiliating, and the agony of United fans, which has been growing since Sir Alex Ferguson left, continues. All four goals came from defensive blunders.
