The White Cockatoo or Cacatua alba is also known as the Umbrella Cockatoo . It is a medium-sized bird found on the Islands of Halmahera, It is around 46 centimetres (18 in) long. This species is endangered and has brown or black eyes with a dark grey beak. The alternative name the Umbrella Cockatoo is because of the semicircular striking crest it expands when surprised. These Cockatoos learn to raise the crest on training or when something catches their interest. The undersides of the wings and tail have a pale yellow or lemon colour which flashes when they fly.
