In this edition we're looking at corporate monitors. In the United States, the Department of Justice often requires companies to retain an independent monitor when settling a case. With a corporate monitorship put in place, a company can avoid court proceedings, through a settlement agreement. But this comes with a risk: an outsider gets to see the inside of a company.
