An African migrant arrives injured on a Sicilian beach in the Mediterranean after his boat sinks, clinging to driftwood. Exhausted, penniless and without possessions, he seeks help from hostile townsfolk, including a zenophobic town Mayor on a pre-election rally....

This short film shows what migrants can face when they arrive in Europe: the slave-labour trafficker, physical violence, racist bigotry, a local population who are fearful, embarrassed, hostile or indifferent and cannot comprehend tragedy or suffering, racist politicians who benefit from cheap migrant labour and who uses the migrant issue for political ends, the conspiracy between politicians and traffickers..... as well as great kindness of course....

It was while living in Sicily that I became aware of immigrants travelling to ‘fortress’ Europe, mostly to escape war and poverty, and to seek a better life, and of the dangers and discrimination they still face in 2015. "Outcast" is a dramatization of this tragedy. (Ireland-Italy co-production). Please share this film if you feel it deserves it. Thanks.
