Tragically, a woman was killed as she was on the phone with a 911 operator, expressing fear for her and her three children’s lives. Kristine Kirk reportedly dialed 911 after her husband, Richard Kirk started to talk about ‘the end of the world’.

For about 13 minutes, Kristine stayed on the line with the emergency operator. During the call, she said Richard wanted her to shoot him. She also claimed Richard may have used marijuana and it seemed as though he was hallucinating.

While speaking with the dispatcher, Kristine’s husband reportedly grabbed a gun out of a safe inside the home. Kristine screamed and a shot went off.

At that time, the 911 call had gone on for approximately 13 minutes and police had yet to arrive. When they finally did, Kristine was dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Richard reportedly admitted to the officers that he had indeed killed his wife. He is now being held without bail, accused of first-degree murder.

Police have launched an investigation into the death and whether or not Kirk was under the influence of marijuana. They are also looking into how the 911 call was handled and the lengthy response time.
