Algonquin Regional High School has long been recognized for fielding many outstanding athletic teams over the years. Few teams were ever better than the Tomahawks track team of 1965 through 1967.
Among our many outstanding atheltes from that era was Joe Cummings, a young man who dominated the mile run during that period of time. Joe's Dad tried to attend every track meet we competed in. However, it wasn't until over 45 years had past that we became aware of Joe's Dad making several 35 mm films during our track events so long ago.
Joe recently came upon the films and had them converted to a DVD. We have since converted them once again so we could bring them up for public display.
Several notable athletes of that period are present in this video. Warren Baker, Tom Maley, Jerry Maloney, Richard Desimone, Bruce Whittier - a two-time state shot put champion and believed to be the bearer of the longest enduring school record at Algonquin, and of course.. Joe Cummings.
