Olympic Truce did not work - the number of hot spots in the world is growing. Mass demonstrations escalating to riots have spread to Bosnia. The current situation in the country is worse than it was after the war in the region ended in the mid-nineties. Bosnians took to the streets to protest against the inaction of the local authorities that do nothing to curb unemployment, poverty and corruption.
Protesters set fire to government buildings. The capital of Bosnia, Sarajevo , suffered most in the riots. In the capital, as well as in several other cities, local authorities were forced to step down. The protests were more or less peaceful over the weekend.
The EU has already threatened to deploy troops in the country should violence continue.
