US president Barack Obama has recently said that his relations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin could not be referred to as cold. According to Obama, the Russian president treats him with respect.
Obama also said that there are special connections between Russia and America and that the two countries cooperate closely. One of the most recent efforts is the joint work between Russia and the United States in providing security at Sochi Olympics. Moreover, Obama concluded, he and Putin often share similar views on issues of international diplomacy.
However, even respect from the Russian leader has not let Obama attend the Winter Games in Sochi. The US president said that he was very upset about the need to stay in America as he had so much work to do. Yet, many considered it a big mistake for Obama to make. Apparently, Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin will have to express respect to each other at a distance.
