Fresh anti-government protests as Ukrainian government signs bailout agreement with Russia

In the Ukrainian capital, anti-government protesters are demanding the resignation of President Yanukovych and Prime Minister Azarov.
The fresh protests come after Ukraine signed a financial bailout agreement with Russia.
Opposition leaders, meanwhile, are accusing Russia of forcing through an illegal budget.
Leader of the Udar opposition party, Vitaliy Klitschko, gave a statement underlining his intentions to depose the current government.
“You must have a dream, but that alone is not enough. You have to work with dedication and then there is no dream you cannot make real. We will do everything it takes so that the government that brought this country to an economic collapse and a political crisis retires.”
Ukraine’s leadership claims the bailout will guarantee the country’s financial stability, as the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has pledged to buy nearly 11 billion euros worth of Ukrainian bonds. Azarov called it “a historic moment,” saying:
“The president agreed a new gas price from the beginning of next year until the end of the contract. This gives an opportunity to develop energy, restore economical growth and use the savings for modernisation.”
It is unclear what Putin has asked in return for providing financial support.
Opposition activists, worried about Ukraine’s increasing dependence on Moscow, say the deal may actually worsen economic troubles in their country.
