I found this young 'Hen of the Woods', 'Maitake' while wild mushroom hunting in Ohio in October 2013. Maitake is an excellent edible wild mushroom, possessing medicinal and culinary value. This mushroom (Grifola frondosa) has been valued in Asian culture for thousands of years, and is now gaining popularity in western culture.
