Protesters celebrated in a southern Chinese city after the government scrapped plans for a nuclear processing plant. The complex in Guangdong province was planned for uranium conversion and enrichment.
The proposed 230-hectare complex in the heart of China's Pearl River delta industrial heartland had also sparked unease in neighbouring Hong Kong and Macau.
